Ladies and gentlemen, we have a middle schooler!

Well, this lovely lady is officially done with elementary school.
Dad and Sis waiting for the ceremony to start.
We're totally making a giant head for Amalia's graduation.
Lily will definitely miss her teacher Ms. London.
 And the feeling is mutual.
The fifth graders sang a lovely song they learned at science camp. It is called "Shooting Star" and is about friends and the lasting memories they make in your life.
Celebrating our girl.

2nd graders going out in style

Today was Amalia's end-of-year 2nd grade class party.
Kids had their money on Amalia to win.
Because they were chocolate donuts, she immediately ran to spit it out after biting it off the string.
Onto the relay race, conveniently featuring cups of water on this hot San Jose day.

I had been planning to send her to aftercare, but couldn't bring myself to send her in soaking wet clothes.
Some other moms, much more creative than I, put together this lovely gift for Ms. Sullivan.
Their end of year pictures were holding balloons of their beginning of the year pictures.
I know, right? How adorable.

Seeing double and triple

Today was Twins Day at Bagby.
Lily's friends Mari and Jenna picked out the blouses. Lily told me, "it's not really my style," but she was a good sport. Though the ribbon Jenna brought this morning to tie up their hair nearly pushed Lily over the edge.
Amalia and her twin, Caroline, are much more simpatico.

Girls on the Run 2016

This year was Lily's second time taking part in the running/empowerment program that is Girls on the Run. Saturday was the culmination 5K.
The Bagby team dressed in togas as the goddess Nike for their costumes. Amalia was all too happy to help decorate.
She also gleefully sprayed my hair.
The 6:30 a.m. Silicon Valley GOTR crowd.
 The Bagby Toga Team
 Coach Andy!
 Warming up.

Post-race feast.
Getting her award from the coaches. Another great year! Looking forward to Amalia's turn next year.

Movin' on up

On Saturday, Amalia was promoted to the next level of gymnastics (from Intermediate I to Intermediate II) at a "gold medal ceremony."
Here they are warming up.

Getting serious

Today was Lily's first band competition. Her district's Cadet Band (5th graders) competed against several middle and high schools - the only elementary school band in the mix.
Getting ready. Lily's on the flute in the middle, second row.
Band Director, Mr. Dave Sanchez. One of the most patient men I've ever seen.
Shaker Hymn
Prehistoric Suite  - I
Prehistoric Suite - II (and then my camera ran out of memory -- they played two more pieces).
The flautists Lily and Mari after the performance.
