Bee a-mazed

That's all Lily's doing--with nary a hesitation. She clearly has a bright future as a laboratory mouse.

Get the folk out of here

Today we went to the 29th Annual Washington Folk Festival in nearby Glen Echo Park. It featured lots of fun music, storytelling, and arts and crafts. Lily's favorite part was the carousel, which is there at the park all the time of course, but she did take a few turns around the dance floor with her old man.

We didn't actually see these guys, but this picture was on the festival's web site, so it gives you an idea of the entertainment.

As ever, Amalia was an appreciative audience.

Just us girls

Last Sunday, I took the girls to the local tot lot (next to our neighborhood elementary school, where Lily will go to Pre-K in the fall!) while Andy golfed.

Great performances

You gotta love Harry.

Lily was a bit distracted during this portion.

This clip is a bit longer -- see if you can count how many times Lily's leotard rides up.

"Creative movement"

That's what they call Lily's dance class. Appropriately, I think. Here are some pictures from today's "parent observation day." (I guess calling it a recital would place too much pressure on the three-year-old prima ballerinas -- and one ballerino.)

They file into (and out of) class using the traditional ballet train technique.

I don't know why Lily's the only one sitting up.

Balancing with Miss Josephine.

Class pose.

Mingling with her fans.

I have some video clips that I'll try to put together for the next post.

Six Flags

Lily and Andy spent a few hours at a nearby amusement park last weekend.

First stop: carousel.

Telling Andy something very important.

Princess wave.

Holding on for dear life.

Mother's Day gifts

Lily and I spent Mother's Day morning catching a bus to Georgetown, strolling along the Potomac, watching the new Disneynature movie, "earth," and walking back home through some local wooded trails.

Just when I thought my day couldn't get any better, Andy shared the following video of Amalia doing her first sign.

And then Lily got Amalia to do some high fives. What fun.

Rainy day obstacle course

It was a bit soggy today, so we made the best of our indoor afternoon by constructing a make-shift obstacle course. It was quite the Pierce family competition.

Jarred food is SO last month

All these new textures can be quite surprising!

They got the memo

Actually, they wrote the memo. I witnessed the wardrobe planning the day before -- down to the detail of agreeing that they wouldn't wear the purple tights that they also both have.

Seriously? At 3 1/2? I didn't think this sort of thing would hit until junior high.
