We saw dead people

Andy's brother, Charlie, and cousins Hannah and Chase arrived this week for spring break. Yesterday they took a tour of FBI headquarters. Today we ventured out for a day trip to Gettysburg.

Two paths diverged

Now that it's staying light later, one of our favorite things to do in the evenings is to take a walk in the woods near our house. A little bit of nature in the middle of the city.

Mustaches and marshmallows

Andy and Lily went to see the Mythbusters Tour yesterday afternoon.

Adam and Jamie staged a fight so that folks could have an interesting picture to post to Facebook. Since Andy's not on Facebook, this will have to do.

Andy said the audience was mostly scientists, engineers, and nerds. In other words, he had a good time.

A rally for Trayvon Martin was just ending when Lily and Andy got downtown.

Today the girls made Rice Krispie treats for a bake sale at Lily's school that's raising money for Pennies for Patients (Leukemia & Lymphoma Society).

Pretty in pink

New spring dresses arrived today from Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Colin! And check out the blooming cherry blossoms lining our block. What a lovely time of year.

Candy from strangers

Our neighbor Allen invited us to an early Easter egg hunt today.

The afternoon started out a bit overcast.

And Amalia fell asleep on the way to the park so was loathe to let go of her blanket.

But it didn't take long for the girls to start scoping out the little plastic eggs.

The kids were asked to raise their hands if they were ready for the hunt.

Amalia was enthralled with the balloons that served as the finish line for the post-hunt games.

Sadly, they were not hers to keep.

Lily and Zahra showing off their prizes from the bunny hop race.

Egg rolling. Not quite on the White House lawn.

Triple chin roll.

Scoping out some jelly beans.

Post-piƱata scrum.

Circle the wagons

When the sun is out and the temperatures climb to anywhere near comfortable, the girls like to explore our neighborhood in their Radio Flyer. Not wanting to infringe on their independence, I only snapped a few pics of them going and coming.

Watch out for the feathers

I picked up a couple of champagne mangoes today at Whole Foods because Lily loves them. Amalia spotted them in the car on the way home and said, "I'll try them. They're flamingos!"

Pumped up kicks

I took the girls for much-needed shoe shopping yesterday. The clerk asked if I wanted her to throw the old shoes away. Of course not!

Amalia's new patent leathers.

This is what she did when I told her to look sweet.

Lily's are a cross between Converse All Stars and Doc Martens. No full-body picture was allowed.
