Black History Month assembly

Today was the Black History Program at Lily and Amalia's school.
This is Lily's second grade class singing, "What Can One Little Person Do?"

Lily's group sang about Sojourner Truth.

 There was even choreography.

Amalia's Pre-K class (and a different 2nd grade class) sang along with "Lean on Me."

 Coco, Amalia, and Zeina.

There was choreography with Amalia's song, too.

Rescue league

Amalia rescued this styrofoam, sequin-covered, no-eared bunny from the $1 bin at Target on Sunday. Her compassion has no bounds. The checker took mercy on us (for having to pay for what Andy thought rightly belonged in the trash bin) and knocked down the price by two-thirds.

Once home, the creature was immediately named Pup Sparkle. As my friend Jen rightly points out, we should probably think twice before ever taking Amalia to an animal shelter.

Update: As of this morning, Pup Sparkle has been renamed Marshmallow. She also has been seen with lollipop sticks coming out of where her ears should be. We apparently also perform limb reattachment.

All I want...

...for [St. Patrick's Day?] is my two front teeth.

Playing catch-up

I should've asked Lily the name of her balloon person.

Snagglepuss, waiting for her other front tooth to fall out.

Ol' green eyes.

The girls playing a peaceful game of Go Fish while Andy made breakfast.

Yes, I do believe that is a piece of bacon on the Wii balance board.

Anticipation

5 a.m. conversation with Amalia (who's staying home sick today):

Amalia: Do you know what we're going to do when winter time is over?

Me: No, what?

Amalia: We're going to go to the farmer's market. And buy a watermelon. But only a yellow watermelon. They're delicious.

Me: OK. Are you tired?

Snow-tivation

There's nothing like a little overnight snowfall to get the girls moving in the morning.

They were up and dressed in plenty of time to get in some snowplay before school.
