Home alone

Well, we dropped our older daughter off at sleepaway camp today. It's a place called Camp Kennolyn up in the Santa Cruz mountains--about 45 minutes from our house. I don't get all weepy very often, but I was definitely tearing up as we left. I was so proud of her independence, and so happy for her and the amazing week that lies ahead--the camp looked really cool.

This is the main area, built to look like an old time village. It houses the general store and the main camp office, plus a couple of other rooms.
This is Lily's cabin. She shares it with 6 other campers, a counselor and a junior counselor.
Arriving early has its rewards. Lily got a top bunk.

Lily seemed perfectly content (eager?) to have us leave, so Andy and I headed out to Santa Cruz to check out the beach.

And Amalia headed down to Camp Grandma in Thousand Oaks this morning. (Hopefully they've arrived by the time of this posting.) Big plans in store for her include a trip to Legoland, swimming in the pool (every day!) and going over to Amy's mom's house to "take care of the horses." Should be a fun week for everyone!
